Safety and training drills aboard REV Ocean

As we prepare REV Ocean for operations, safety remains our top priority. This week, our crew has been hard at work running through a series of fire and emergency training on board, including detailed briefings, fire response simulations, and equipment handling exercises.

In these images, you can see the team in action — inspecting vessel diagrams, navigating tight galley spaces in full gear, and practicing hose use operations. These routine training exercises are essential for ensuring that every crew member is ready to respond swiftly and effectively in the event of an onboard emergency.

With each test and training session, we’re getting one step closer to launching safe, successful missions at sea 🌊

Step into one of the most important spaces onboard REV Ocean—the science hangar. This high-tech hub is the operational core of the vessel, purpose-built for launching submersibles, deploying ROVs, and handling a wide array of ocean research equipment.

From the very beginning, the vision for REV Ocean was to create a platform where science could take center stage, and that meant building everything around the needs of oceanographers and explorers.

REV Ocean has arrived in Vlissingen. A short but great transit from Norway with an amazing crew and nice conditions en-route. Thanks to Damen for guiding us in and giving us a nice welcome on arrival.

A beautiful sunrise also welcomed us upon entry into the Netherlands. We are now looking forward to the next stage of the construction of our research vessel and getting our plans ready to be operational in 2027.

Today marks a historic milestone as we officially took ownership of our vessel from VARD and proudly raised the REV Ocean flag for the very first time! 🚢⚓

At exactly 13:45 hrs on 19 February 2025, REV Ocean was entered into the Norwegian International Ship Register, bringing us one step closer to our mission of driving ocean solutions.

A huge thank you to the great REV Ocean team, our dedicated crew, VARD, and everyone who has been part of this journey. Your hard work and passion have made this possible, and we couldn’t be prouder.

As we look ahead to becoming fully operational in 2027, we are more committed than ever to pioneering ocean research, innovation, and impact. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share the next chapters with you. 🌍💙
